MSP Security Oversight

Independent oversight of the MSP or IT provider you already have. We validate controls, review SLAs, and translate technical work into business risk terms. We are not an MSP and do not compete with yours.

What MSP Security Oversight Is

Most organizations rely on a managed service provider for day-to-day IT and security operations. That is a sound model, but it leaves a gap: who independently confirms that the MSP is actually delivering the security outcomes you are paying for?

CyberCascadia provides that independent layer. We review your MSP's service levels, validate that agreed controls are in place and operating, and translate their technical work into plain business risk terms for your leadership. To be clear, CyberCascadia is not an MSP. We do not manage infrastructure, run a helpdesk, or take over operations. We hold your existing provider accountable so you get the value you are paying for.

Who It Is For

Organizations that depend on an MSP or outsourced IT provider but have no independent way to verify the security they are paying for. You may sense that things are mostly fine but cannot confirm it, or leadership may be asking pointed questions you cannot answer with confidence.

This service fits businesses across healthcare, defense contracting, professional services, construction, and financial services that want accountability without bringing IT operations in house.

Business Problems It Solves

  • You cannot independently confirm that contracted security controls are actually in place.
  • You are unsure whether your MSP is meeting its service level commitments.
  • Technical reports from your MSP do not tell you what they mean for business risk.
  • Responsibilities between your team and the MSP are unclear, leaving gaps.
  • Leadership wants assurance that the money spent on IT is reducing real risk.
What Is Included

Accountability for the provider you already have.

Scoped to your contract, your environment, and your priorities.

SLA & Contract Review

A clear read of what your MSP has committed to, how performance is measured, and where the agreement leaves security gaps.

Control Validation

Independent confirmation that the security controls your MSP is responsible for are actually in place and operating as described.

Vendor Accountability

An objective scorecard of MSP performance against expectations, giving you the basis for productive provider conversations.

Risk Translation

Technical activity and reports converted into business risk language your leadership and board can understand and act on.

Responsibility Mapping

A clear picture of who owns what between your team and the MSP, so nothing critical falls through the cracks.

Improvement Recommendations

Practical, prioritized recommendations to strengthen the relationship and close any gaps we identify.

What Is NOT Included (By Design)

CyberCascadia is not a managed service provider. We do not run a helpdesk, manage endpoints, operate a SOC, or take over any part of your IT operations. We do not sell or install products and we earn no vendor commissions.

This is intentional and it is what makes oversight credible. Because we do not provide the services we are reviewing and have nothing to sell you, our assessment of your MSP is objective. We complement your provider rather than competing with them, and our aim is a stronger, clearer relationship.

Typical Deliverables

  • SLA and contract review summary with identified security gaps
  • Control validation findings for MSP-owned responsibilities
  • Vendor performance scorecard against agreed expectations
  • Responsibility matrix clarifying ownership between you and the MSP
  • Business-language risk summary for leadership
  • Prioritized recommendations to strengthen the relationship

Why CyberCascadia

CyberCascadia is advisory-only and founder-led by Tanner Harrison, CISSP. Because we are not an MSP and sell nothing, our oversight is genuinely independent. We have no incentive to undermine your provider to win their work, and no incentive to overlook problems. We simply report what we find.

We are local to Washington and North Idaho and we understand the regional MSP landscape. The result is honest accountability that strengthens the relationship you already have.

Frequently Asked Questions

MSP oversight questions we hear most.

No. CyberCascadia is not an MSP and does not want to be. We do not run helpdesks, manage infrastructure, or take over your IT operations. Our role is independent oversight: making sure the MSP you already have is delivering the security outcomes you are paying for. We complement your MSP, we do not compete with them.

MSPs are accountable for the services in their contract, but most contracts focus on uptime and support, not strategic security outcomes. Independent oversight verifies that agreed controls are actually in place, that SLAs are being met, and that security work translates into reduced business risk rather than just activity.

Handled well, oversight improves the relationship. Good MSPs welcome a clear, fair scorecard because it documents the value they deliver and clarifies who owns what. We approach oversight as a collaborative accountability process, not an adversarial audit.

No. We are advisory-only. We do not install, sell, or operate security tools. We review evidence, validate controls, and translate technical work into business risk terms. Implementation stays with your MSP or IT team.

It can be a one-time review or an ongoing cadence, often quarterly, depending on your needs. Ongoing oversight pairs naturally with a vCISO engagement. We scope the right model during a free discovery call.

We document the gaps objectively and give you the information to have a productive conversation with your provider. Our goal is accountability and improvement, not blame. You decide how to act on the findings.
